National Campaign On Ksharsutra
Indian systems of Medicine mainly Ayurveda is getting acceptance and popularity through out the world mainly because of its holistic approach. As per the findings of WHO more than 75% of the population in developed countries are using complementary and Alternative Traditional Medicine like Botanicals, Herbals which is part and parcel of Ayurveda. Ayurveda is having much more potential in some areas like minimal invasive Para-surgical measure and so on.
The Anushastra Karma i.e. minimal invasive Para-surgical measure of Ayurveda, particularly Ksharasutra is gaining acceptance and popularity in fistula-in-ano and other selected ano-rectal disorders. In India, many general surgeons and proctologists are also practicing this art routinely, considering the cost-effectiveness and safety of this unique approach. In view to mainstream this measure among surgeons of other systems of medicine and to popularize the role of Ksharasutra, the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS) in the Department of AYUSH has initiated a National campaign on Ksharasutra from 24th August 2007 throughout the country. The campaign will be launched with national level workshop in association with ICMR to be held on 24th and 25th of August in the auditorium of AIIMS, New Delhi. The practicing general surgeons, proctologists, academicians from premier Medical Colleges will be participating in this Two days workshop.
