It is an important day for people in the field of Ayurveda as it is Dhanatrayodashi, or simply Lord Dhanwantri’s birth anniversary. He is considered as the promoter of Ayurveda and this celebration marks his incarnation.
Dhanwantari Jayanti of the founder of this ancient Indian medicine and therapy form is being celebrated in Nepal since 1975 when the Ayurved Campus was established in Naradevi, Kathmandu. This day is also commemorated as National Good Health day since 1999 with the Nepal Ayurved Doctors’ Association initiative.
People working at the Naradevi Campus, Singha Durbar Baidyakhana and the Dhanwantari Hospital at Samakhusi also celebrate this day to pay their respects to this diety.
