Maui Herbs, a full-service ayurvedic healing center located in K?hei, recently announced they will be holding monthly weekend workshops from April to November. Clinical Ayurveda Specialist Jackie Reed said each workshop will focus on a different aspect of ayurveda, with a total of eight weekend workshops in the entire series. Students do not have to attend all the weekends, but will receive a discounted rate if they choose to do so.Jackie and her husband, Chiropractor David Reed, who own and run “Maui’s premiere shop for herbs and herbal products,” developed these workshops as a response to their patients’ curiosity about ayurveda and self-treatment. “Our philosophy is: give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime,” said David.

“Not only will these workshops provide venues for self-healing, but they can also greatly enhance one’s existing massage/healing arts practice,” said Jackie. “Using ayurveda in conjunction with other healing modalities has been very effective in our experience.”

Established in 2006, Maui Herbs offers consultations, custom herbal formulas, authentic ayurvedic treatments, chiropractic care, and now educational classes. Both graduates of California College of Ayurveda, the Reeds have designed an informative, fun and interactive curriculum that will leave students with a thorough knowledge of ayurveda, as well as the confidence to practice the tradition in their professional and private lives.
